Burn times vary depending on the surroundings your candle is placed in.
If it's in a setting with no breezes or a chilly setting candles tend to burn slower...in a room where there's breezes or it's warmer they tend to burn faster.
Here's some info...the following examples are APPROXIMATE BURN TIMES!!!
4" - 12 hours per inch in height - 4x6 inch = 72 hours
6" - 16 hours per inch in height - 6x6 inch = 96 hours
8" - 19 hours per inch in height - 8x6 inch = 114 hours
10" - 21 hours per inch in height - 10x6 inch = 126 hours
12" - 25 hours per inch in height - 12x6 inch = 150
Why do candles flicker and dance? Essentially, your wick is using up the oil from the candle wax to burn. This causes candle flickering because the wax builds up around the wick. Waves of air create a dancing flame.
Old World Style is "hand pouring candles" in the traditional way...
Candle making is a true science but it can be a piece of art! Shadows has come up with their own style, of hand pouring, and that's what sets our rustic candles apart!
YES, it's very important...candles have additives that can leave an oily residue which will stain furniture and anything you place your candle on. Usually, the furniture or floor where the candle sat is irreparable.
****Before you "snuff" your candle out "HUG IT", you'll get more burn time****
You take your fingers and go around the outer edge of the soft "wax pool" and gently press it towards the center. As you do that the wax pool will rise to the edge, you want to stop just before it starts to melt the edge. It will be ready the next time you want to enjoy your candle!!!
The best way is to "drown" the wick out, push it down into the hot wax pool, when it's out pull it back up out of the wax. Then it is "primed" for the next time you're ready to light your candle. You can gently snap the hard wick to about 1/4 of an inch. Light it up and enjoy!
Keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4".
Of course, and you can use them outdoors or indoors. You'll want to leave 2 inches all the way around between the candle and the lantern. That gives your candle "room" for good ventilation. Measure the diameter of your lantern then when you're looking at candle diameters you'll want to order your candle 2 inches smaller than the lantern.
